L500S Series
Vertically-adjustable suspended float level switch

The L500S is a low-cost, single or multiple level float switch designed for adjustable level monitoring or leak detection within storage tanks, sumps and wells. The vertically-mounted L500S is suspended by an electrical cable to the desired switch position inside the tank while an integral weight maintains the correct orientation and removes slack from the cable. A compression fitting is used to secure the cable in place and forms a leak-tight seal around the electrical components. The L500S is available in PVC, brass/buna and stainless steel materials. Additional options include various switch points and special configurations.

Technology

Float level switches

All float operated liquid level controls operate on the basic buoyancy principle which states "the buoyancy force action on an object is equal to the mass of liquid displaced by the object." As a result, floats ride on the liquid surface partially submerged and move the same distance the liquid level moves. Because of this, they are normally used for narrow level differential applications such as high level alarm or low level alarm.
