Model F10 vane-actuated mechanical flow switch

Magnetrol® flow switches provide dependable flow control for a wide range of industrial applications, detecting the presence or absence of flow in horizontal pipelines with exceptional accuracy. Designed for reliability and long service life, these switches help protect critical equipment and ensure efficient system performance.

Model F10 flow switches are vane-actuated units engineered for use with both gas and liquid flow in 2-inch through 10-inch flow lines. Their rugged construction makes them ideal for demanding environments such as chemical processing, oil and gas, water treatment, and power generation. With proven Magnetrol® quality, F10 flow switches offer a cost-effective way to monitor process flow, prevent damage from low-flow conditions, and maintain consistent system operation.

Technology

Mechanical flow switches

F10: Force of liquid or gas flow against a vertical flow vane mounted in a line causes the vane to pivot to a horizontal position, moving an attraction sleeve into the field of a switch magnet. This pulls the magnet toward the sleeve and actuates the switch.

F50: The force of liquid flow through a valve body and against a flow disc causes it to lift out of the flow path. The attraction sleeve at the top of the disc assembly moves into the field of a switch magnet, attracting the magnet and actuating the switch.

The actuating vane is magnetically linked to a pivoted electric (or pneumatic) switch, which is isolated from the process by a non-magnetic barrier tube. As the actuating vane moves with an increase in flow, it drives a magnetic sleeve into the field of a permanent magnet located outside the barrier tube which trips the switch. As flow decreases, the actuating vane returns to a vertical position, allowing the magnet  and switch assembly to return to the “No Flow” position.
