External Cage Switches for Reliable Industrial Level Measurement

Our external cage switches provide dependable, accurate level control for a wide range of industrial applications. By utilizing either float or displacer technology, these switches ensure safe, efficient operation in processes requiring precise high-level or low-level detection.

How External Cage Switches Work

A permanent magnet is attached to a pivoted switch actuator inside a non-magnetic enclosing tube. As the float or displacer rises with the liquid level, it pulls an attraction sleeve into the magnet’s field. This causes the actuator to snap against the enclosing tube, activating the switch. When the level falls, the float or displacer moves out of the magnet’s field, deactivating the switch. The enclosing tube itself acts as a static pressure boundary, keeping the switch mechanism isolated from the process media.

Float-Type Caged Level Switch: Precision for Narrow Differential Applications

All float-operated liquid level controls follow the buoyancy principle, which states that a body (the float) immersed in liquid is buoyed upward by a force equal to the weight of the displaced liquid. In narrow differential applications—such as high-level or low-level alarms—the float accurately tracks the liquid surface, moving the same distance the level changes.

● Magnetic Coupling: Our float-type external cage switches use a float and magnetic coupling to ensure reliable on/off operation for fluid level measurement.
● Ideal Use Cases: High/low level alarms, overflow protection, and other critical point-level applications.

Displacer-Type Caged Level Switch: Robust Performance for Varying Conditions

Instead of relying on direct float movement, displacer-type switches use buoyancy force changes on a suspended displacer. As liquid level rises or falls, the buoyancy force compresses or relaxes a range spring, moving an attraction sleeve into—or out of—the switch magnet’s field.

● High Versatility: Suitable for a variety of liquids, including those with fluctuating densities.
● Accurate Switching: The spring-driven mechanism offers precise actuation for critical level detection.

Why Choose Our External Cage Switches?

● Reliable Operation: Our robust designs stand up to harsh industrial environments, ensuring long-lasting performance.
● Safety & Efficiency: Accurate level detection helps prevent spills, equipment damage, and costly downtime.
● Tailored Solutions: From float-type to displacer-type switches, we provide options that best fit your specific process requirements.

Use our external cage switches for increased safety, efficient process control, and the peace of mind that comes with consistent, accurate performance.

External Cage Switches

A permanent magnet is attached to a pivoted switch actuator. As the float/displacer rises following the liquid level, it raises the attraction sleeve into the field of the magnet, which then snaps against the non-magnetic enclosing tube, actuating the switch. The enclosing tube provides a static pressure boundary between the switch mechanism and the process. On a falling level, the float/displacer deactivates the switch.
