8. Air flow/ventilation monitoring (fans & blowers)

Fans and blowers must be monitored to ensure they are operating at their “Best Efficiency Point” (BEP).  Monitoring fan and blower air flow output provides a means of quantifying the performance and reliability of the ventilation system and predict intervals for periodic maintenance.  This results in lower cost of operation through reduced energy consumption.  Advanced monitoring of the entire ventilation system can also help identify leakage in the duct system; inadequate airflow through branches; and allow ensure air flow rates can be adjusted according to production needs.

Solution
The Thermatel TA2 mass flow transmitter can measure air without the need for pressure and/or temperature compensation, it is easy to install, creates very little pressure drop, has good sensitivity at low flow rates and a very high turndown ratio (100:1 and upwards).
